My husband has taken on showering and putting our daughter to bed the past two nights, and he has turned it into a whole celebration each time. They have music playing, they’re jamming and she’s squealing with delight in the shower, and it just sounds so fun. And energizing, frankly. But it seems to get all of her extra energy out and just knock her out. And I mean out. Last night, she didn’t even get a chance to try to drink the milk he was prepping to give her (instead of nursing from me like she usually does before bed). He said she passed out on his shoulder while he was warming the milk, and that she didn’t budge even when he tried sticking the bottle’s nipple into her mouth. So, he set her in her bed and left her, and she stayed asleep for the same amount of time as usual, as though she had nursed right before bed. It was wild. And great. Hoping for similar results tonight. I’ve already gotten to put away another whole load of laundry again tonight because of his managing her fully for bedtime stuff. Finally making some progress on housework again(!).
Thank you, God, for this small yet immensely significant support. Make us well, keep us safe, and make us whole. In your name, I pray. Amen.
