Alone with the dog

This weekend, the dog and I are hanging out together. I miss my man, of course, but I’m also okay. More so than usual, even. The dog, however, is a different story. She rushed out to look for my man’s car when I got home, and was clearly stumped when she couldn’t find it. Ever since then, she has been pacing or lying down right by the back door, quite obviously waiting for him to get here. She even went off and on breathing heavily through both doors that he normally would use to come inside… it’s her odd way of showing impatience while also trying to smell if someone is on the other side of the door.

She misses him. 😛

It’s funny how she always knows when he’s getting ready to leave town. She picks up on the shift of packing and putting things in the car, even if she isn’t out by the car to see any of the loading up happening. As son as she notices he’ll be leaving, she keeps a wary eye on the car, and often tries to get inside of it the first time one of the back doors is opened at all. I imagine this morning was no different. She likely knew he was leaving, especially since he doesn’t normally go anywhere in the middle of the morning like today, and he certainly was scrambling to pack his clothes and all, likely strewn about in various places in the house (since he hasn’t fully unpacked yet from the previous two trips that just happened, and laundry was only just begun). But, whether she knew or not, it is definitely clear that she knows he’s not here and that she wants him back here. 😛

Good dog.

Dear God, please, keep us and my man safe. Help him to have a wonderful and wholesome and safe weekend this weekend. Thank you for this life. In your name, I pray. Amen.

P.S. Did you know that today was Friday, the thirteenth of October? I totally missed it. 😛

Love from afar

My man is in Mexico. I miss him. I wish he were here. Or that I were there. But that I still could be doing my job… which is here. So, yeah…

I miss him.

God, please, keep him and the dog safe. Help to heal us all, that we may be close to you always and in all ways, and that we may pursue and want and fulfill your will. In your name, I pray. Amen.

Bedsheet mix-up

For some reason, when I moved at some point, one of my fitted bedsheets went missing.

And it isn’t like the bedsheet is a plain white or solid color that could be easily mixed up with others – it is white background covered in light, pale green leaves and plants (so it is mostly pale green).

I have the pillowcase and the top sheet, and even the comforter (which doesn’t match but was given to me with them) for them…. just not the fitted sheet.

And so, every time I switch out of the cat sheets – yes, they were the kitty cat sheets my stepsister picked out when we were little, and they somehow became mine for life in recent years – and into my ‘other set’, which happens to be the plant set – a set which is actually quite new and unused – I end up having to use a towel or two, and maybe a blanket for extra coverage, in lieu of a top sheet, and under the comforter (if it is cool enough for the comforter, that is).

Right now, I’m sleeping mostly on top of the comforter with it wrapped around me also as a top sheet, thereby giving me extra cushion and a top sheet.

And I only really got that idea from the fact that I was out of extra clean towels and blankets due to the recent animal disaster situation, and my not having been able to get through all the laundry yet, since I only just cleaned out everything the other night, right before leaving town until tonight.

That and the fact that I had already been sleeping somewhat like a burrito/sandwich with this comforter downstairs for the previous couple weeks when I was displaced from my room and had been able only to rescue the single comforter and pillow case in my moments of panicky hurry.

So, you know… I just kept the comforter for another handful of days while I figure things out a little better.

I called my mom and asked if she can look for the top sheet, and I’m hoping she finds it… it definitely would make me more likely to walk my sheets more often, if I actually had a second set to use immediately each time…

A request of you…

Dear people who happen to follow my weblog,

Would you happen to have the e-mail/notification containing the post I made on August fifth of this year?  It seems to have disappeared from WordPress, and I very much would like to have it back.  It began as follows:

More than they can handle? – hannah ananas

Riding the trains recently, I am often reminded of one of the – if not the – first times I rode on subways. I was with my mom and two brothers, and we were on vacation in Washington, D.C. I was around age ten or twelve. Throughout the trip, we used public transit. While we…
