Ouch, but yay!

Well, I still feel a bit like I have the incomings of a cold, and my muscles are still achey all over, but we got our shopping all handled this afternoon and I passed my test with flying colors this morning. We started at eight and finished almost exactly at noon. Some stuff was a touch harder than I’d anticipated, just for my tiredness and soreness here and there differently so than usual, and other things went much more smoothly than I’d anticipated. For my katas, our instructed regularly shared how she “doesn’t give twenties” on the scoring of them (points are between five, ten, fifteen, and twenty, and she always writes in an eighteen of you do a really good job, which I usually do for my katas). And yet, somehow, today, I got not one but three twenties out of my six katas (the other three were 18s, as usual, of course). Now that was cool and unexpected. Thank you, God, for my effective performance there this morning.

10k

Do our run, get an event shirt that’s retail value is only one dollar less than your entry fee. Eat some bananas and RX Bars and churros after the finish line. Do our free yoga class afterward to stretch yourself out, and take the $88 mat you used home for free.

Not bad, lululemon. Not bad at all for your first effort at a run in Houston. We accept ad we thank you for the event.

P.S. My man got himself the fastest time he’s ever gotten on a 10k today, and he didn’t even prep. He signed up late, did a two-mile run earlier this week, and hoped for the best in his shorts, tank top, light sweater thing, and gloves in the sudden near-freezing temperatures. And he did his best, quite literally. Super proud of him, and grateful to have him be with me in this beautiful, wonderful, awe-inspiring life.

I can ride my bike

with handlebars, thank you very much.

And, tomorrow, I shall. It will be the Houston Park-to-Port bicycle ride from a main park in the city, Hermann Park, to the Port of Houston. It will be a great event, and I am stoked to be doing it both with my mom, again, and my man, for the first time. Yay!

Thank you, God. Please, keep us safe and able all throughout tomorrow. In your name, I pray. Amen.

Stepping out

Sometimes, it’s really hard for me to go out, to go to new places or just typical could-be-dirty-type places. Sometimes, it’s not very big of a deal. Tonight, I was excited about the idea of going to one place – a clean place in my mind. Then, the excitement transferred to a new idea of watching the baseball game somewhere nearby over drinks, instead of and after the meeting with drinks farther away. As we got into details of where this other place would be, I started to struggle a bit. It became something that I wanted to do for my man, much more so than for myself or for us to have fun. I found pleasure in the idea mostly out of his desire to go out and do something, to be somewhere that isn’t home, doing something relaxing and enjoyable.

So, I asked my brother if he and his wife were interested, and they almost immediately joined the plan. I made it clear that finding a place was on them, though without being rude or mean. My man recommended two spots, and my brother picked one. Once my man finished with his meeting across town, we headed to join my brother and sister-in-law at the selected patio bar place. I was only a little scared about it all, and it proved to be very reasonable a place, with clean amenities, even at night (I’d been there once during the day already). I enjoyed my time there with my family, and I’m glad we went. Hopefully, my man and my brother both got the relaxation and bit of fun and variation they likely both were needing tonight, my man especially.

God, grant them both blessed refreshing sleep tonight, please, that they be best prepared to pursue and fulfill your will in their lives tomorrow. In your name, I pray. Amen.

World Series

Dear God,

I simply pray that all people be kind, loving, selfless, and forgiving throughout this World Series, especially those who call themselves “rivals” to others. Help us all to remember that we are all children of God, blessings to the world in all that we each are and in all that we are together, as one people.

In your name, I pray.

Amen.

Prayers for Jane’s Healing

Whatever your method, whatever your beliefs, however you can, I ask for your prayers, your intentions, your positive energy, your love, your light to guide healing and release to our dearest friend Jane. Her body needs some help right now especially, and I ask for your support, wherever you are, whenever you are. However you call the cosmic energy that connects us all, please, ask it if it would grant Jane those healing atoms and neurons and electrons and cells, please. Your support will be forever appreciated.

God, please, grant this healing of Jane’s physical body and the release of strain that she has been holding as of late. Allow her to offer her cross up to you, that you might lift the load and heal her in her time of such dependent need. Help her to be her best self, and to be it here with us all, on Earth, and for many years to come. In your name, we pray. Amen.

St. Jude and Mary, Mother of God, pray for us, please, and pray for Jane’s healing. Amen.

Meant to be

Naturally, I didn’t want to go to the meeting, as it was so late in the evening (6-8pm) and far away from home, both on a school night.

Naturally, I didn’t leave until almost 8:45pm, because I was having such a great time.

I guess that’s how it goes when we end up where we’re meant to be.

Thank you, God, for such a blessing as this new rodeo committee seems like it will be and already has been so far. Amen.

She has arrived!

She is here and we have her and it has been awesome! I actually cried when I picked her up at the airport, and very unexpectedly so. It both surprised me and didn’t. I really love and have missed getting to spend time with my step-sister these past several years. And I am so grateful that my man gave me such an amazing opportunity – I think he has only a glimpse of how significant and valuable this is to me and to my family – and that my step-sister said, ‘Yes’!

Thank you, God, for such amazing blessings. Please, help us to pursue your will and to be our best selves through it all – keep us safe, please. In your name, I pray. Amen.

Let it go

Today, we started off with the Saturday morning workout. It was a partner workout. People didn’t follow the instructions given. It caused problems for those following the instructions. Obviously, we were the ones following the instructions. We finished on time, but we had a lot of frustration. It was so much so that we had to sit together for almost ten minutes to talk through everything after the workout and follow-up stretching had ended. It was a very positive outcome, but a very stress-filled class for he both of us. But we were intentional with the whole thing, and so we are growing well from it, I do believe.

Afterward – and after our max effort pull-up’s post-workout – we headed to confession and reconciliation. There is nothing quite so freeing as reconciliation, and fulfilling…

Then we did several things we’d been wanting to do, but hadn’t had time or space or memory to do so on previous weekends, simply because we passed by them on our way home from Church… farmers’ market and test driving a Jeep Gladiator and a truck. And the test drives were awesome. We had a blast, the both of us. And yes, he and I each got inside the closed truck bed of the Jeep, just to see how spacious it was. You could fit multiple people back there lying down, if needed… just in case that is ever a relevant fact in your life…

We didn’t accomplish a lot of what we’d intended for today, but we got some done, for sure, and we accomplished other things we had wanted for a while. So, I think this was a really great Saturday for us both, even if it felt a bit odd for not accomplishing the original list of tasks and goals for today.

The bonus is that tomorrow only has Church on the list, so we can finish today’s stuff then! Woohoo!

Thank you, God, for such a bizarre yet love-filled day. In your name, I pray. Amen.
