Food for thought

Do you know that feeling
of when your body needs you
to eat some more
protein?
The belly has a slight hollowness,
various muscles ache a bit,
everything feels fatigued,
and there is an undeniable
craving of necessity
pulling clearly
from somewhere indistinct within…
and possibly all over your skin?
All such that you can just tell
that you need to go ahead
and have some protein already…

Yeah…

That’s basically how I feel about you…

Wherever you are,
however you are,
forever as you are…
You are my protein
for life…
for life…
forever and ever, Amen.

Day one!

Today was day one of my fourth year at my gym. I started it off with a regular 5:15am workout – workout #1 – and then headed to school for the day. Though I definitely didn’t get enough sleep the past two nights, it was still a great day and time. I hung with my mom after school, then went to church for crawfish and prayer and the Divine Mercy stations of the cross (my first time ever doing them). It was an awesome day, and I am incredibly grateful for having been granted all of what today has been. Thank you, God.

I got 190 workouts in my first year at the gym. The second had the mandatory shutdown of gyms, so I only did 124 (boo). But, my third year, I took seriously again, and I did 201 workouts for the year (yippee)! My goal four year four is 202 workouts. Let’s do this! LFG ❤

Empirical data

As opposed to imperial… (stolen Death Star plans!)

Anyway, today marked my 201st workout at my gym for this membership year, April 8 of 2021 to April 7 of 2022. Tomorrow marks the beginning of my fourth year at this wonderful gym, and I am extremely grateful. Being part of this gym has helped to transform my life for the better – thank you, God, and thank you to all who have played positive roles in making this experience possible and happen. Amen.

I am the fittest I have ever been in my life right now, I look amazing, I feel amazing, I am strong, I am beautiful…, and I am woman – hear me roar. (No, literally, you can hear me roar regularly at these really tough workouts. I roared a bit just yesterday in the workout!) And my self-comfort and self-confidence are off the charts amazing, in large part due to this gym. It is spectacular, and so is the owner. Thank you immensely.

And now, after 201 workouts completed within year three, we shall set a new goal of 202 for year four. How many times do you do a really hard workout per week? Over here, we be crazy… and I know it. Doing my max effort pull-up’s after every workout, and getting two other guys to join the efforts for themselves after their workout of the day. Nuts, I tell you, we are nuts at this gym. And I am ever grateful and glad to be a part of it all. Thank you all. Thank you, God. This year will be 202 workouts for the year! Amen.

Home-y-ish

Today, I covered a few more steps in unpacking and setting up my living space. They were all a mix of things, big and small and in between, I suppose, but I am noticing now, as I prepare for bed, how all of them have made already a big difference.

There is a small lamp plugged in by the door now, and a vase and a little star with a light just sitting along the wall by one of my paintings… they are definitely not in their permanent places – like a huge percentage of the stuff I have been putting away these past two days – but just having them here, visible, with me has made it feel so much more comfortable, cozy here in my room. I feel more at-home, à l’aise. And it makes me want to do more, which, I believe, is a good sign and thing.

Alas, I must be at work tomorrow, but not until about 9:45am. So, I’ll have some morning time to get some things done. Dear God, please, help me to get up and going effectively early tomorrow morning such that I can be my best self all throughout the day and night tomorrow. In your name, I pray. Amen.

(Yup. Still have to think about the year!)

Watch Party

At long last, I looked up how to do all these “watch parties” for simultaneous film viewing on the various streaming websites with people in different locations. I admit, it didn’t work out. 😛
And so, we went the (new) old-fashioned way, just synching up the videos after hitting play. And, you know what? It actually kind of worked. Sure, on the other person’s end my film was half a second slower with sound, and on my end it was an eighth of a second faster than the other person’s sound. But it was tolerable for us both, and we got to have a wonderful time watching Shrek together (Fabulous movie, in my opinion, and one of my favorites!). So, thank you, technology. 😛
And thank you, God for this amazing and fun and silly, love-filled opportunity tonight. In your name, I pray in gratitude! Amen.

(Definitely got the wrong year ^ there just now)

Tomorrow

Tomorrow, I aim to clean up and clear out a lot. Tomorrow and Wednesday, really… I have much to do, yes, but I have much time in which to do it in these next two days. Dear God, please, help me to sleep well and to work effectively and efficiently with this work this week. Help me to make a home that welcomes both of us living here and all those we invite into it. Help me to express your love even through my home. And, please, give me the needed rest to heal my body this week and to give me full energy to accomplish the unpacking and tidying and cleaning I want to make happen this week. Thank you for this life and these challenges he’s and this support I have. In your name, I pray. Amen.

Bluebonnets, Baby

Today, we drove out to a small town northwest of Houston in search of bluebonnets. We stopped at a large gas station for a bathroom break after about SJ hour, then turned off on a local road and headed away from the highway. Within minutes, we found a lovely spot along the side of the road, and hopped out for some family portrait fun. And, truly, it was a lot of fun.

My friend and I both loved the photos I’d gotten of them, dog solos included, as well as the few photos she’d snapped of me with the baby – they were gorgeous and adorable photos. And I ended up looking like both a goddess and a mom, which was new and, in its lack of surprise, surprising – it just looked natural and right…, which was awesomely bizarre.

When we first hopped out of the car to get things started

Thank you, God, for that unexpected blessing, and for the wonderful ‘family time’ we had today. In your name, I pray with gratitude. Amen.

Saturday

I have been told that I need to warn people ahead of time about my messiness while eating at In-N-Out Burger. So, I did today, when someone offered to go eat there together. He was shocked at my statement, wondering what on Earth I could be thinking. However, once we sat down and I started dipping the fries into the vanilla milkshake, and then the sandwich itself, he understood quickly: No clean hands for me while eating In-N-Out!

The greatest part of it, perhaps, though, was how he said I had changed his whole world of In-N-Out. Now he, too, was in love with putting milkshake on bites of his burger and fries.

Boy, it was such a good time, and it was utterly delicious and silly and fun.

Heart and soul

Tonight, my mom and I continued our tradition of going to Shake Russell concerts. It was amazing, wonderful, so many good words and feelings. The venue was an adorable old barn-type place in town that we had never before noticed but that has apparently been a music venue for small events since 1969. Lyle Lovett and Shake Russell and many other known names apparently played there all throughout the years. And it was palpable in the space. Also, the sound system was awesome – the kind where you don’t even notice there’s a sound system, because it just works so beautifully and effectively.

Uh… it was just wonderful, y’all…

God blessed this night.

God, thank you for such an amazing and wonderful and heart-filling night tonight. Thank you for the absolute blessing that is Shake Russell and his music. And thank you for my family and all of the love that surrounded me tonight. I love you. Thank you. Please, guide me to fulfill your will in all things through my life. In your name, I pray. Amen.
